Andrew Jackson Memorial Society

Help us honor the service of our North Carolina National Guard members by joining our

Andrew Jackson

Memorial Society

The Andrew Jackson Memorial Society has been developed to honor the memory of our National Guard members that have served our States, Country and Citizens throughout the past 381 year history.

You now have an opportunity to sponsor a memorial in honor of someone that has served the National Guard.  You have the opportunity to memorialize a friend, fellow Soldier or Airmen or family member along side his fellow compatriots through this website.

This program has recently launched and over the next year your memorial will be featured as a "Founding Honoree".  Proceeds from this fund will go to support the North Carolina National Guard Association which directly supports over 16,000 current and former Soldiers/ Airmen and their families.

For the donation of $100 you will have an opportunity to display your honorees photo and brief tribute about their lives and years of service.Join us today in honoring our past and strengthening our future National Guard.

WHAT IS THE ANDREW JACKSON MEMORIAL SOCIETY

The North Carolina National Guard traces its heritage back to the 1663 Carolina Charter granting authority to "levy, muster and train men."  In recent years, the NC Guard has reshaped itself in accordance with guidance from the Chief, National Guard Bureau and the departments of the Army and Air Force.  On 24 May 1946, the United States Army Air Forces, in response to dramatic postwar military budget cuts imposed by President Harry S. Truman, allocated inactive unit designations to the National Guard Bureau for the formation of an Air Force National Guard. These unit designations were allotted and transferred to various State National Guard bureaus to provide them unit designations to re-establish them as Air National Guard units.

William "Billy" Efland, Billy spent most of his career as a technician at the Efland Hosiery Mill and served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He passed away, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.
